The curly cycad, or Cycas revoluta, comes from southern Japan. It is one of the oldest plants in the world, nicknamed "dinosaur" because it has survived since the Jurassic era. It combines the characteristics of a palm and a fern, but it is neither: it is a conifer. The varied and natural greenery of Cycas makes it difficult to distinguish from a living plant. The trunk of the plant is carefully finished with delicate brown bark, and the whole thing is crowned with a spectacular plume of leaves.
